Syracosphaera strigilis HOL

Classification: ntax_cenozoic -> Holococcoliths -> tubeless -> flat dimorphic -> Syracosphaera strigilis HOL
Sister taxa: S. nana HOL, S. strigilis HOL

Citation: Syracosphaera strigilis (Gaarder, 1962) Supraha et al. 2018 HOL
Rank: Species
Basionym: Corisphaera strigilis Gaarder, 1962

Distinguishing features:
Parent taxon (flat dimorphic): BCs disks, may have ridge
CFCs with transverse ridge of bridge

This taxon: BCs solid disk with transverse ridge; CFCs with elevated transverse bridge

Farinacci & Howe catalog pages: C. strigilis + *

BCs no tube, solid basal disk, bridge oblique whaleback-shaped, ca. 1 µm long.
CFCs similar with bridge extended into leaf. Some similarities to Anthosphaera

Biology & life-cycles: Supraha et al. (2015, 2018) documented a life-cycle association, from multiple observations of combination coccospheres,  between a holoccolithophore previously known as Corisphaera strigilis Gaarder 1962 and a heterococcolithophore formerly known as Syracosphaera hirsuta Kleijne & Cros 2009
