Basionym: Cricosphaera quadrilaminata Okada & McIntyre 1977

Variants: Umbilicosphaera angustiforamen Okada & McIntyre 1977 - this looks to be T. quadrilaminata with slightly wider rim than usual, and the four plates in the central area poorly imaged [my interpretation - JRY 2015]

Distinguishing features: Coccoliths elliptical with narrow placolith rim surrounding central-area filled by four (rarely three) plates
