Taxonomic discussion: The monospecifc genera Dicrateria and Imantonia were revised and discussed by Green & Pienaar (1977) who placed them both in the Isochrysidales based on absence of a delveloped haptonema, although a vestigial one does occur. The two were very similar but scales were only developed in Imantonia.  Edvardsen et al. (2000) reclassified Imantonia rotunda into the Prymnesiales based on molcular genetics.  Bendif et al. (2013) showed that Dicrateria inornata should also be placed in the Prymnesiales and that it had virtually identical SSu rDNA sequences to D. inornata. Following this they merged the two genera.
