Gephyrocapsa ericsonii protohuxleyi type

Classification: ntax_main -> Isochrysidales -> Noelaerhabdaceae -> Gephyrocapsa -> Gephyrocapsa ericsonii -> Gephyrocapsa ericsonii protohuxleyi type
Sister taxa: G. ericsonii ericsonii type, G. ericsonii protohuxleyi type, G. ericsonii protohuxleyi type with half bridge, G. ericsonii protohuxleyi type with thorn, G. ericsonii crassipons type

Taxonomy:
Citation: Gephyrocapsa ericsonii protohuxleyi type Cros & Fortuño, 2002
Taxonomic rank: type
Taxonomic discussion: McIntyre (1970) included in his description of G. protohuxleyi both a low latitude form similar to this and a rather larger high latitude form. It is not clear which was the type form. Winter et al. (1978) first illustrated specimens from the plankton.

Distinguishing features:
Parent taxon (Gephyrocapsa ericsonii): Very small species of Gephyrocapsa; bridge at high to intermediate angle to short axis; wide central area, thin bridge.
This taxon: distal shield with slits between the elements
