Original description: Cells spherical to subspherical measuring 4-8 µm, append ages inserted apically in a slight depression. Haptonema (3-9 µm) shorter than the usually equal flagella (10-16 /-Lm). Peri plast covered with scales of two types. Scales with inflexed rims (50-100 nm) oval to round 0.35-0.75 by 0.45-0.8 µm and scales with erect rims (150-200 nm) round to oval 0.5-0.8 by 0.5-0.8 µm. Proximal and distal faces of both scale types with radiating ribs arranged in four quadrants.
