Prymnesium parvum forma patelliferum (Green et al. 1982) Larsen 1999 = Prymnesium patellifera Green, Hibberd & Pienaar 1982
Taxonomic discussion: Larsen & Edvardsen (1998), Larsen (1999) showed that two Prymnesium "species" P. parvum and P. patelliferum were actually alternate life-cycle stages of a single species, P. parvum. Larsen (1999) proposed referring to these as forma but, as noted by Jordan et al. 2004 this is not acceptable taxonomic practice.
