[d'Orbigny 1826 emend. Brotzen 1948]: Remarks: The genotype of the genus Discorbis Lamarck has not been determined for certain. It was very badly figured by Lamarck and the topotypes given by Cushman in his “Foraminifera, their classification and economic use,” 1927, 1933, 1940, are not definitely identical with Lamarck’s figure. Therefore, I consider that the name of the genus Rosalina d’Orbigny must also replace the name Discorbina Parker and Jones. The genus Rosalina is best characterized by the shape of the aperture. The inner suture of the last chamber on the umbilical side is lobate in an anterior and posterior lobe (fig. 19, “lob. ant.” – “lob. post.”). A more or less distinct tenon pushes forward between the lobes (fig. 19, “ten.”). The aperture lies below the posterior lobe and can extend under the tenon. Rosalina is distinguished from Conorbina Brotzen by the umbilical region and aperture, and the plano-convex or convex spiral side.
