Nuttallides crassaformis

NB This site is under active development, current content in the main database is primarily from Bolli et al 1994, Hayward et al. 2012, Holbourn et al. 2013, Holbourn and Kaminski 1997, Alegret & Thomas 2001, and Katz et al. 2003. Basionym: Asterigerina crassaformlsCushman & Siegfus, 1935
Synonyms:
Taxonomic discussion: The generic position of N. crassaformis is still uncertin (Belford, 1958, p. 96). In this paper it is provisionaly placed in Nuttallides. This planoconvex species diffrs from N. truempyi (Nuttall) primarily in the inflated supplementary chamberlets situated around the umblical region (pl. 6, fig. 5b). In the Eocene, where it was not always possible to distinguish both species accurately, it has been included with N. truempyi In the census. [Tjalsma & Lohmann 1983]
