Original Description

Test large, medium-high trochospire; formed by approximately three to four whorls; peripheral margin ellipsoidal, strongly lobate; five to six chambers in the last whorl, increasing gradually in size as added; chambers of last whorl globular on both umbilical and spiral sides giving to the test an arched appearance; globular in apertural views; primary aperture umbilical-extraumbilical; umbilicus small, partly obscured by the last chamber.

Etymology:
The hedbergella-like arrangement of the chambers gives the name to the species

Extra details from original publication
Variation of the species. Favusella hedbergellaeformis n. sp. shows considerable variation in the degree of protrusion of the last chamber. The majority of the specimens observed show small umbilical area and the last whorl formed by five globular chambers. Specimens with six chambers in the last whorl are rare.

Remarks. Favusella Hedbergellaeformis n. sp. differs from Favusella washitensis (Carsey) by its arched test and by its hedbergella-like arrangement of the chambers, a feature which gives the name to the species. The holotype of F. hedbergellaeformis will be deposited in the Micropaleontological Collection of the U.S. National Museum (Washington, D.C.).

Range. Thalmanninella ticinensis Zone (upper Albian to Thalmanninella evoluta Zone (lower Cenomanian).
