Type sample (& lithostrat): Jackson, Upper Horizon (Bed 2), light yellow clay. Common in both horizons.
Type age (chronostrat): Upper Eocene.
Type locality: Danville Landing on the Ouachita River, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, U. S. A.
Type repository: Washington; USNM; originally deposited in Louisiana State University Museum Collection, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, C. S. A., Cat. No. 712

Original Description

Test small, trochoid but nearly planispiral, periphery lobate; chambers few, about eight visible on the dorsal side, about four in the last-formed whorl, almost spherical in shape; sutures depressed; wall calcareous, finely spinose, perforate; aperture an almost circular opening on the ventral side not quite centered on the periphery.

Size:
Diameter 0.2 mm.; diameter of largest chamber 0.13 mm

Extra details from original publication
This species differs from Globigerina pseudo-bulloides Plummer in the shape of the aperture and the arrangement of the early coil.

Editors' Notes
The original combination is given as Globorotalia danvillensis in some sources (e.g Eocene & Oligocene atlases) but is Globigerina danvillensis according to other sources, including the Ellis & Messina catalog.
