Original Description

Test subglobular, dorsal side nearly flat, ventral side strongly convex; wall calcareous, coarsely perforate, covered with numerous small spiny protuberances, giving a granular appearance; periphery bluntly angled to rounded, lobulate; all chambers visible on dorsal side, earliest ones indistinct, later ones inflated; ventrally only last-formed whorl of about 4 chambers visible; chambers generally inflated, increasing rapidly in size as added, last chamber appearing somewhat detached from the others; dorsal sutures oblique, almost tangential, slightly depressed, ventral sutures straight, depressed; umbilical area on ventral side depressed; aperture an elongate opening, crescentic at its mid-point, on ventral side, extending from umbilicus toward periphery about halfway along base of apertural face of last-formed chamber.

Size:
Maximum diameter 0.27 mm.; minimum diameter 0.25 mm.; maximum thickness 0.19 mm.

Extra details from original publication
Remarks.-This is a variable species, some specimens having more inflated chambers and more depressed sutures. It seems to be close to Globigerina topilensis Cushman of Howe (1939) but has less inflated, less detached chambers and is less coarsely spinose.

Range.-Samples I-S2+48 through I-S22+7.
