Original Description

[Translation from the Russian.- Test small, inflated, consisting of three whorls in high spire. There are four chambers in the final whorl, growing rapidly in size, distinctly separated by deep sutures. Fisrt chamber of the final whorl usually only half-seen. It is often set off from the rest of the chambers of the final whorl because its located higher than all of them. The characteristic features of this species are the shape and dimensions of the last semispherical chamber which is sometimes one-half the size of the entire test. Chambers spherical, closely adhering to one another. A small depressed umbilicus is formed in the center of the ventral side. Peripheral margin rounded and sinuous. The aperture looks like a semicircular slit at the umbilical margin of the chambers. Usually the aperture is well marked only in the final chamber, but in a very few specimens with a looser arrangement of chambers, apertures are seen in two or three chambers and sometimes even in all four chambers of the final whorl, surrounding the umbilicus like a ring. Aperture always bordered by a very narrow, non-porous, wall-growth, a lip. Wall thin, hyaline, finely pitted, finely porous.

Size:
Test diameter 0.14-0.20 mm.; thickness 0.11 mm.
