Original Description

This subspecies differs from Globigerinita martini martini in possessing more rapidly enlarging chambers which are more strongly embracing, so that only three and a half to four chambers occur in the sccond whorl and that the equatoriall periphery is much less strongly lobulate. This subspecies is also characterized by its possession of a much broader, but much less inflated bulla, which frequently extends weil beyond the Iimits of the small ventral umbilicus; the bulla typically reaches the dorso-ventral periphery of the first chamber of the last whorl, but does not protrude above the ventral surfaccs of the primary chambers as strongly as does the bulla of G. martini martini. The accessory aperture has the same lateral extent as in G. martini martini, but is much lower and is often slit-like. The wall of the primary chambers of G. martini scandretti is thinner and more finely perforate than in G. martini martini.
