Original Description Concha globosa más larga que ancha, primera porción trocoide, formada por tres vueltas de espira, con tres cámaras globosas en la última vuelta, las que aumentan muy rápidamente de tamaño según se forman; ombligo tapado; su turas hundidas; pared gruesa perforada, finamente reticulada con espinas finas, principalmente en las suturas de las cámaras, las que están rellenas de un material finamente esponjoso a través del cual parece vertirse al exterior el protoplasma por una abertura muy pequeña, a menudo poco visible. Size: Largo 0.75 mm.; ancho 0.50 mm. Extra details from original publication Esta especie fue ilustrada por Brady en el trabajo del Challenger procedente de la Isla Ascención, quien la nombró Globigerina bulloides, var. triloba Reuss. (Brady, 1884, Rept. Voy. Challenger, Zool., vol. 9, pl. 8 1, fig. 2.) Ejemplares más pequeños que los del Reciente, pero exactamente iguales en todos los detalles morfológicos, son abundantes en muestras del Mioceno medio de Costa Rica, las cuales se consideran equivalentes a la formación Gatún de Panamá, pero en una fácie de agua más profunda. La especie que nos ocupa parece estar limitada del Mioceno medio al Reciente.
