Type specimens: Holotype and paratypes USNM no. 63245. Topotypes Standard Oil Company of Cuba, which are now at the University of Havana, Cuba; the University of Santo Domingo ,Ciudad Trujillo, Dominican Republic; the Dorothy K. Palmer Collection at t he Paleontological Research Institution, Ithaca, New York; and in the author's personal collection.
Type sample (& lithostrat): Gurabo formation; massive, fine-grained, sandy marl.
Type age (chronostrat): Middle Miocene
Type locality: Sample H-15000, from about 1km south of Yasica on the road from Puerto Plata to Santiago de los Caballeros, Puerto Plata Province, Dominican Republic

Original Description

Test stout, tumid, unequally biconvex, side slightly convex, ventral side very much so, strongly two whorls, the early chambers closely coiled, four chambers making up the last whorl, the chambers increasing rapidly in size as added, the border of the chambers on the ventral side subacute; spiral suture simple, chamber sutures indistinct; wall vitreous, coarsely perforate; aperture at the base of the last chamber with a narrow valvular flap.

Size:
Diameter, 0.56 mm.; height, 0.49 mm.

Extra details from original publication
This variety differs from the typical form (= Globorotalia quadraria Cushman and Ellisor, 1939) in being more elevated ventrally, and in having the surface completely perforate, in contrast to the species in which half of each chamber is smooth
