Original Description

Test planoconvex, spiral side typically flat but sometimes slightly convex. Umbilical side strongly vaulted . Peripheral outline subovate, fairly weakly lobulate. Margin acute, with strong keel. Wall finely perforate, with varying omamcnt but typically with pustules developed strongly on the umbilical side of the first 2 or 3 chambers of the final whorl, and weakly or not at all on later chambers. Chambers totaling 14-17 with 4-4½ chambers in the final whorl, inflated on the umbilical side. Sutures on the spiral side thickened, transverse sutures strongly curved; on the umbilical side slightly curved, depressed. Umbilicus small, deep. Aperture high-arched, bordered by a distinct lip, interiomarginal, extraumbilical.

Size:
Dimensions of holotype: Maximum diameter 0.45 mm., minimum diameter 0.38 mm., thickness 0.27 mm.

Variability: Specimens show considerable variation in the shape of the umbilical side, which ranges from conical to convexly rounded. Rounded forms are less common, and some have a weak keel, a small final chamber and a subcircular outline.

Remarks: Fleming (1959), in discussing the Kapitean Stage, referred to 'this species as an unnamed Globorotalia, a highly conical member of the G. miozea lineage.
