Original Description Piasmostraco trocospirale piano-convesso, piuttosto opaco; lato spirale piano o leggerissimamente convesso; camere in numero di 11 o 12 in due giri di cui l'ultimo piu sviluppato; suture arcuate, leggermente depresse, non limbate: sutura spirale poco marcata; superficie un po rugosa con pori ben evidenti: periferia acuta poco lobata che conferisce agli esemplari un aspetto subsquadrato; lata ombelicale sensibilmente convesso, con quattro camere. di cui la prima di dimensioni ridotte e le altre tendenti a crescere in spessore a volte non gradualmente; superficie leggermente ruvida con pori evidenti: suture poco clepresse, pochissimo arcuate; ombelico pressoche chiuso; apertura ombelicale-extraombelicale, stretta e allungata, con labbro appena accennato. Editors' Notes
Junior synonym of Globorotalia hirsuta (d'Orbigny) subsp. aemiliana Colalongo and Sartoni, 1967. The holotype of that subspecies, the specimen of pl. 30, fig. I of Colalongo and Sartoni is placed by Conato and Follador in synonymy with their new species crassacrotonensis; Globorotalia crassacrotonensis is therefore an objective junior synonym of aemiliana [note added to Ellis & Messina catalog]
