Citation: Globorotalia globigeriniformis van Bellen 1946
Taxonomic rank: species

Original Description

"Test planoconvex. Ventral side convex, very deeply umbilicate, showing only the last whorl, which consists of about seven globular chambers, separated by deeply depressed straight sutures. Periphery broadly rounded, somewhat ' Stephanoceras'-like. This is due to the fact that especially on the dorsal side, the specimens show a very slight projection, possibly due to local thickening of the wall of the chamber. Dorsal side showing somewhat more than one whorl, most of the foregoing whorls hidden by possibly secondary roughening of the test. Dorsal sutures les deeply depressed, in the older part of the whorl oblique, later on more or less radiate. Aperture a small opening at the base of the last chamber on the ventral side just above the periphery. Dimensions: 0.35 X 0.27 X 0.19 mm."
