Globorotalia inconspicua

Taxonomic rank: species
Type sample (& lithostrat): Claiborne. Cook Mountain formation; calcareous fossiliferous clay containing lenses and stringers of glauconite.
Type age (chronostrat): Eocene
Type locality: In ditch, 18 inches above base of slope leading down to Couley Creek along dirt road in the SE1/4 NE1/4 NE1/4 NE1/4 section 22, Township 10N, Range 5 W., Winn Parish, La., U. S. A.
Type repository: Baton Rouge; Deposited in the author's collection at Louisiana State University, University, Louisiana, U. S. A.; slide no. 2050.

Original Description

Test very small, more or less plano-convex, the dorsal side relatively flat, the ventral side strongly convex, with numerous chambers, about eight in the last coil; chambers inflated,periphery lobulate and carinate dorsally, the extremities of the chambers tending to bear small spines; wall granular, probably minutely pitted; aperture an arched slit at the base of t he chamber between the periphery and the umbilical area. 

Size:
Greatest breadth of holotype: 0.15 mm.; thickness, 0.06mm .

Extra details from original publication
This little form tends to add in number of chambers to the whorl as it grows. Half grown specimens show usually about six chambers.
