Original Description

"Test rotaliform, strongly convex ventrally, flat tolightly convex dorsally; wall calcareous, perforate, completely covered with fine protuberances, giving a granular appearance; periphery subacute, not keeled, lobulate along two or three chambers; complete whorl visible dorsally, early chambers somewhat indistinct; only last whorl of five or six chambers visible ventrally; chambers inflated, increasing gradually in size as added; dorsal sutures slightly curved, almost tangential, usually indistinct, slightly if at all depressed; ventrall sutures depressed, distinct, straight; umbilicus on ventral side open; aperture an indistinct slit in plane of ventral sutures at base of last-formed chamber, extending up to the umbilicus, commonly filled with extraneous material. 

Size:
Maximum diameter 0.44 mm.; minimum diameter 0.39 mm.; thickness 0.3 mm.

Etymology:
Named in honor of Jay Glenn Marks.

Remarks.-This species is similar to Globorotalia crassata var. densa (Cushman) of Cushman & Barksdale (1930) but differs in being typically larger, more compact, more strongly convex ventrally, less distinctly papillate, and with the chambers less distinctly lobulate.  

Range.-Samples I-S2 through I-Sll-54.
