Original Description Test trochoid, biconvex, compressed; dorsal side strongly convex, ventral side moderately convex; chambers numerous, seven to nine in final whorl, very distinct, inflated, narrowly rounded but not keeled at their periphery, tending in the last whorl to be produced ventrally in the direction of the axis of coiling; umbilical area large and rather deep; sutures strongly depressed; wall finely perforate. Size: Diameter 0.7 mm., thickness 0.3 m Extra details from original publication This species seems to be the most primitive of the three species of Globorotalia here described from the Greenhorn formation. It is evidently very close to Globigerina. Since the other two species are definitely not Globigerina, and yet all three species are obviously quite closely related, it seems best to consider this species in the same genus. There is a suggestion of the development of the keeled periphery of Globorotalia in the sharply rounded margin of the chambers appearing in edge view, about intermediate between Globorotalia greenhornensis and typical Globigerina. The similar aspect of the ventral side in these species is striking. G. multiloculata is quite common locally in the Greenhorn formation associated with the two species just described. It is easy to distinguish because of its numerous chambers and globogerine aspect with a narrowed peripher
