Remarks: The specimens from the Aquia formation of Aquia Creek, Virginia, referred by Shifflet (1948) to Globigerina cf. pseudobulloides Plummer, belong to the present species. It differs from G. pseudobulloides (which is here considered also a Globorotalia) in the much smaller size, lower chambers, which increase more slowly in size, and the very prominently spinose umbilical side. Globorotalia reissi, new species, is similar in size, but has a more convex spiral side, and a nearly smooth surface.
