Original Description Test planoconvex; flat to very slightly convex dorsally, strongly convex ventrally; wall calcareous, completely covered with numerous fine pores giving a frosted appearance; periphery angled, lobulate, with thickened irrgular keel; complete whorl visible dorsally, early whorls slightly raised above level of last whorl; ventrally only last whorl of four is visible; chambers inflated, increasing rapidly in size as added; dorsal sutures strongly curved, depressed; ventral sutures nearly straight, deeply depressed, distinctly separating the chambers; umbilicus incorporated into apertural opening on the ventral side; aperture a large crescentic opening at base of apertural face of last chamber, extending from umbilicus about three-fourths of way toward periphery, bordered on outer edge by a thin lip. Size: Maximum diameter 0.48 mm.; minimum diameter 0.39 mm.; maximum thickness 0.3 mm. Extra details from original publication Remarks. This species resembles Globorotalia aragonensis Nuttall (1930) but has fewer chambers, a more strongly lobulate periphery, no limbate sutures, and a more fragile appearance. A variant of this species, tentatively included under Globorotalia rex, has six chambers visible ventrally, a heavier shell wall, and a more granular surface. Among the specimens from Renz's locality Rz 413, San Fernando formation, Trinidad, are forms which appear to be identical to this variant found in Lodo sample I-S2.
Range.-Samples I-X7 through I-S9.
