Original Description

"Test is usually small, convex on the dorsal, flat or slightly concave on the ventral side, and has a distinctly lobate periphery. The 4-5 chambers which form the last whorl are truncate in typical specimens and often show only a partially developed marginal keel. The suture lines ar dorsally radial or slightly curved and radial on the ventral side. The walls are usually covered with very fine spines. The state of preservation of the specimens so far examined has not allowed detailed study of the aperture or apertures which probably open in the umbilicus."

Size:
diameter, 0.4 mm.; thickness, 0.16mm

Etymology:
This species is named after Dr. M. B. Cita for her contribution to the study of the genus Globotruncana.

Extra details from original publication
Rosalina foveolata, described by Ehrenberg in 1840 from the Cretaceous of Cattolica (Sicily), appears to be closely related to this species, but the single dorsal view and very short type description do not allow a closer comparison.
