Globotruncana contusa scutilla

Original Description

Fairly and regularly convex on the dorsal side, flat on the ventral side, double-keeled, the peripheral band almost horizontal and lying in the same plane as the umbilical surface; periphery subcircular and slightly lobate, chambers narrow, long, arched, even the last ones. Sutural elevations generally thick, sometimes thinner but always continuous and fringing the chambers on the dorsal as well as the ventral side. Umbilical cavity large with slightly arched lips as in Glt. fornicata manaurensis. The test is dextrally coiling.

Size:
Dimensions of holotype: Width 0.38 x 0.36 mm.; thickness, 0.23 mm.

Remarks.— Transitional forms are present toward Glt. contusa patelliformis, n.subsp. and toward fornicata forms.
