Original Description Test trochoid, umbilicate, highly convex dorsally, convexity less pronounced on ventral side, periphery lobate, keeled, sides only slightly truncate, a poorly developed secondary keel at the ventral margin; chambers in very early stages globigerine, closely coiled, increasing in size as added, later ones petalloid and smooth on dorsal side, outer margin carinate, acutely lobate on ventral side, forming a sharp ridge around the umbilicus; sutures slightly limbate dorsally, limbation formed by carinate margins of chambers, impressed ventrally; wall finely papillose; aperture opening into the umbilical area; umbilical cavity large. Size: Diameter of the holotype, 0.32 mm Extra details from original publication This species resembles very old specimens of Globotruncana arca but it may be distinguished from them by its more pronounced dorsal convexity, and the distinctly petalloid appearance of the later chambers. The last few chambers frequently bear a slight transverse depression near the middle.
