Globotruncana verrucosa

Citation: Globotruncana verrucosa Vasilenko 1961
Taxonomic rank: species

Current identification: Marginotruncana marginata (Reuss, 1845)

Original Description

[Translation from the Russian.]--Test weakly convex on the dorsal side with a clearly lobate outline. Dorsally the chambers of the second and third whorls are semicircular; on the chambers of the first two whorls the tubercles are round and large, covering the greater part of their surface; in all the chambers of the last whorl they have the shape of oval tubercles located at the very center of the chamber; septal sutures and dorsal keels are uniformly narrow on all the chambers, finely tuberculate, smoothly rounded. On the ventral side the chambers are more convex, reniformly drawn out in the direction of coiling, septal sutures between them are most often without flanges, depressed, weakly curved. Umbilical flanges and ventral keels on the first chambers are broader and more verrucate; almost merging around the septal sutures, they form broad ovals which become more and more elongated at the apices of the chambers on the ventral side. Peripheral margin broad; ventral keel in the keel band continuous, dorsal one interrupted, since the dorsal flange of each chamber enters into a weakly depressed interkeel space of the previous chamber, not joining at the dorsal margin.
