Extra details from original publication
Localities and Geologic horizon: Cotypes from the Lower Oligocene marl of a water well 0.5 kilometer southeast, of Cartagena, Santa Clara Province, Cuba. (Palmer Sta. 1163). At the type locality the new species is associated with distinctive Oligocene species of echinoids and a large fauna of foraminifera including Eponides byramensis C., Nodosaria spinicosta d'Orb., Rotalia mexicana N. var. metapecensis N., Marginulina cf. pseudohirsuta N., Bolivina mexicana C. var. aliformis C., Lepidocyclina and Heterostegina . The new species has also been found in Upper Eocene marls associated with characteristic echinoids and foraminifera, the latter including the genus Hantkenina.

Examples from Consuelo Quarry, Havana (Palmer Sta. 942) are figured (figs 1-3).

G. cubensis n. sp. is distinguised from G. wilcoxensis C. and P. by the more regular increase in size of the chambers and thr fact that the shell wall, while not smooth and polished, is not papillated, as is that of the latter species. G. cubensis differs from G. goodwini C. and J. in the character of the aperture, which is always a low opening at the base of the final chamber and does not extend into the apertural face of the final chamber as dcscribed in the latter species.
