Current identification:
Type species: Hartella harti nov. sp. Description: Test is compressed, with planispiral coil in the early stage and biserial chamber arrangement when adult. Periphery is subangular to, rarely, rounded and without peripheral structures. Main aperture is a medium to high arch at the base of the last formed chamber and is bordered by two symmetrically developed, rimmed flanges. Chamber surface is ornamented with longitudinal rows of pustules; pustulose periapertural area present in the anterior part of the chambers in the adult stage. Test wall is calcitic, hyaline and nannoperforate to microperforate. Remarks: Hartella differs from Spiroplecta Ehrenberg,1844 by having compressed tests rather than consisting of globular chambers, by having a subangular to rounded periphery rather than being broadly rounded, and by having the chamber surface ornamented with longitudinal rows of pustules rather than possessing fine costae. Paraspiroplecta differs from Hartella by having relict peripheral test wall flexure, thickened ornamentation in the central part of the test along the zigzag suture and ornamentation consisting of thick costae rather than longitudinally aligned pustules. Species included: The genus is monospecific.
