Editors' Notes
The generic descriton follows the description of Textillaria americana and is generally taken as meaning that forms similar to T. americana, but with an initial spiral, should go in the new genus Heterohelix. See discussions in Loeblich 1951, Frerichs & Gaskill 1978, and Georgescu & Huber 2009.
