Original Description Translation from the Russian. - Test trochospiral, lenticular, evenly convex both on dorsal and ventral sides. Chambers on dorsal side flattened, semicircular in outline with elevated sutures; on ventral side chambers moderately convex, oval in outline, separated by radial, depressed sutures. Peripheral margin narrow with a single keel. Umbilical region moderately broad, open. Aperture interiomarginal, umbilical-extraumbilical.
Family Globotruncanidae Size: Etymology: Extra details from original publication Remarks. - A characteristic feature of the genus is the presence of a single keel along the entire peripheral margin of the test. The species of this genus have much in common morphologically with species of Rotalipora. The possibility is not excluded that this morphological similarity has a genetic basis. In other words, the ancestors of Sigalitruncana might be representatives of Rotalipora in which the supplementary apertures were gradually reduced. From Globotruncana, Sigalitruncana differs by the structure of the peripheral margin with its single distinct keel. From the upper Senonian genus Globotruncanita it differs in test shape, and absence of elevated sutures on the ventral side.
