Original Description Test small, low trochospiral; 5 chambers in final whorl, enlarging slowly to moderately in size as added; sutures radial on both sides; wall microperforate and pustulate; primary aperture anteriointraumbilical-extraumbilical, covered with umbilical bulla. Size: Etymology: Extra details from original publication Remarks. This new genus is distinguished from Tenuitella and Globigerinita by its bullate, intraextraumbilical, primary aperture. It may have been derived directly from Tenuitella (possibly T. fleisheri), whereas bullate Globigerinita with intraumbilical primary apertures developed also from Tenuitella, but via a transitional stage, which is recognized as Tenuitellinata spp. The Oligocene-Miocene bullate species, Globigerinita praestainforthi Blow, is superficially similar to the forms included here, but possesses an anterointraumbilical primary aperture (see Fig. 4), and is correctly assigned to Globigerinita.
