Species included: IS: V. oligosticta (Ehrenberg 1854) (Plate 11, Figures 1–4) and FDS: V. porulosum (Ehrenberg 1854) (Plate 11, Figures 5–9). Diagnosis: Directional lineage with very low trochospiral tests in the IS and planispiral in the FDS, chambers globular to spherical and periphery with a wide imperforate peripheral band. Description: Test is very low trochospiral in the IS and planispiral in FDS; chambers are globular to spherical in the IS and spherical in the FDS and exhibit a gradual size increase. Sutures are distinct and depressed throughout. Test shape is asymmetrical with nearly flat spiral side in the IS and symmetrical in FDS; periphery broadly rounded with one wide imperforate band throughout the final whorl. Aperture is a low arch in extraumbilical–umbilical position in the IS and a medium high arch in equatorial position in FDS; aperture is bordered by a thin imperforate lip; relict periapertural structures often occur in the umbilical regions. Chamber surface is ornamented with dome–like or elliptical pustules (0.0027–0.0083 mm), which are more prominent on the earlier test chambers. Test wall is calcitic, hyaline, simple and perforate; pores are circular, 0.0005–0.0020mm in diameter.

Remarks: Vanhintella differs from Liuenella by having a tendency to evolve spherical chambers, having the chamber surface ornamented with pustules, which are more prominent on the earlier chambers and smaller pores (0.0005–0.0020 mm rather than 0.0010–0.0035 mm in diameter). It differs from Allotheca mainly by having the periphery with one wide imperforate band and the chamber surface lightly ornamented. Lineage architecture shows significant differences: Vanhintella is a directional lineage, whereas Liuenella and Allotheca are iterative lineages.
