Taxonomic rank: species
Basionym: Globigerinelloides paragottisi clavatus Verga and Premoli Silva, 2005
Taxonomic discussion: Globigerinelloides paragottisi clavatus shows a little morphological variability mainly regarding (a) the number of chambers of the outer whorl ranging from 5 to 5.5, (b) the involution of the test (varying from evolute to slightly semi-involute), (c) the number of clavate chambers and (d) their elongation and consequently (e) the shape of the periphery which can be more or less strongly lobate. Original description: Test small to medium, planispiral, evolute to semi-involute and laterally inflated; 2 to 2.5 whorls; 5 to 5.5 chambers in the outer whorl increasing rapidly and gradually in size as added; first chambers spherical to subspherical, the last two or three radially elongate; equatorial periphery ovoid and strongly lobate; sutures straight to slightly curved, radial and depressed; umbilical area rather small and shallow; aperture straddling the periphery as a low to medium arc possibly bordered by a thin lip; relict openings at time observed. Wall smooth finely perforate.
