Type species: Globorotalia cerroazulensis cunialensis Toumarkine and Bolli, 1970

Original Description

The test is calcitic, trochospiral, finely microperforate, and mostly smooth but may have pustules in the apertural region. About five chambers form the final whorl. The aperture is ventral, and umbilical–extraumbilical. No supplementary apertures are present. The periphery is acutely angular in axial view, with imperforate carina, at least in part of the test. Spiral sutures are limbate, with prominent carina (e.g., C. cunealensis) or narrowly depressed forms may exist with carina only developed in the last whorl (e.g., C. cocoaensis). The latter evolved from Turborotalia cerroazulensis (see Figs. 5.6 and 5.7). Eocene (Bartonian, P14 to Priabonian, P17)
