Globigerina pseudoeocaena compacta

Citation: Globigerina pseudoeocaena compacta Subbotina 1953
Rank: sub-species
Type specimens: mus

Current identification/main database link: Subbotina eocaena (Guembel 1868)

Original Description

Specimens of this variety are reminiscent  of Globerina trivialis Subbotina from the Danian? And Paleocene because of the close attachment of chambers. This is particularly well observed when the second and fourth chambers of the final whorl are somewhat  more convex than the first and third, and have a more distinct round outline. However they are easily differentiated because of the looser arrangement of the second  and third chambers of the final whorl, which is especially apparent when the first chamber of the final whorl is barely discernible and frequently invisible. In other respects this variety does not differ from Globerina pseudoeocaena. Dimensions: Diameter 0.40 - 0.55 mm.; thickness 0.18- 0.20 mm.
