Original Description

"Test free, longer than broad, slightly umbilicate, involute, planispirally coiled, early part probably trochoid. Periphery broadly rounded, somewhat apressed, four or five in the outer whorl, rapidly increasing in size as added. Sutures distinct, depressed, radial. Surface coarsely cancellated. Wall calcareous, rather coarsely perforate, radial, byaline. Aperture peripheral at the base of the last chamber, usually obscured. Length up to 0.6 mm.; breadth 0.4 mm.; thickness 0.4 mm.

Extra details from original publication
Remarks. - In some of the specimens, the last chamber is somewhat smooth. Differences. - This species has a resemblance to Globigerina hastata Egger, from the Recent seas, but the latter is more tightly coiled, the chambers more closely appressed, and in the former the chambers increase more rapidly in size. From Globigerinella hirsuta d'Orbignyli this species is differentiated by the lack of a well-developed umbilicus, in the more compact test with more closely appressed chambers and in the coarsely cancellated surface. Globigerinella voluta (White) has a smooth test, less appressed, a greater number of chambers, and well-developed umbilici.
