Type age (chronostrat): Recent: collected in May.
Type locality: A plankton tow from 0-250 m. depth at Station 97 of Cruise I of R/V Anton Bruun, lat. 13°08' N. , long. 86°12' E., Indian Ocean.

Original Description

"Diagnose. - Test lobé, évolute avec un ombilic peu profond: ouverture en arc bas avec lèvre bien developpée; premieres ouvertures visibles s'ouvrant dans l'ombilic. Les 3 ou 4 dernières loges n'ont pas un accroissement de taille important. Dernier tour d'enroulement devenant légèrement trochospiralé.

"Description. - Test de taille moyenne, 15 loges pour 2 tours et demi, enroulement initialement planispiralé, ensuite trochospiralé; périphérie axiale sans carène, arrondie: périphérie equatoriale lobée, arrondie: ombilic large, peu profond: face ventrale legerement concave, face dorsale légèrement deprimée; premier tour d'enroulement présentant des loges dont la taille croit plus rapidement qu'au dernier tour; premières sutures ventrales et dorsales incurvees, devenant plus droites. Loges allongees radialement, legerement plus hautes que larges: ouverture primaire interio-marginale, en position ombilicale-extra-ombilicale. en forme de fente basse le long de l'ombilic, arquée sur la face aperturale, bordée d'une lèvre large perforée: lèvres visibles dans les 5 dernieres loges. Mur du test calcaire, grossierement perforé avec une distribution des pores uniforme; petites pustules sur les loges, en particulier autour de l'ombilic.

Size:
Holotype: diametre maximum 0.53 mm.; taille des pores de la derniere loge 3 a 4µ. Paratype: diametre maximum 0.56-0.65 mm.

Extra details from original publication
Occurrence: Found in two of six oblique plankton tows at the type locality and another locality, furnishing respectively sixteen specimens and one single specimen, but absent in thirty-six horizontal plankton tows at 50 m. depth at the same localities. Also found in a sediment sample (four specimens in 1.5 mg. of dry mud) from a depth of 1890 fathoms (3456 m.) taken at Station 17 of H.M.S. Serpent (1968 cruise), lat. 18° 38' N., long. 69°10' E.
