Type specimens: holotype , no. 63458:. Topotypes Standard Oil Company of Cuba, which are now at the University of Cuba; the University of Santo Domingo, Ciudad Trujillo, Dominican Republic; the Dorothy K. Palmer Collection at the Paleontological Research Institution, Ithaca, New York; and in the author's personal collection
Type age (chronostrat): Upper Miocene, Mao formation; gray, calcareous clay shale. Other level given: Middle Miocene, Gurabo formation. Limited to the deep-water sediments in the Gurabo and Mao formations.
Type locality: Sample H-15099, from along the Rio Yaque del Norte, near the bridge at Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago Province, Republic . Abundant

Original Description

Test slightly longer than broarl, stout, biconvex, dorsal sideless convex, slightly umbilicate; periphery broadly rounrlecl in the earlier portion of the test, subacute in the last three chambers; two whorls visible dorsally, chambers numerous, four or five in the last whorl, the chambers increasing rapidly in size as added; spiral suture indistinct in the early whorl, somewhat depressed on the last one, chamber sntures slightly limbate on the dorsal side, simple and depressed on the ventral; umbilicus not very notable, with conspicuous granulations; wall thick, finely perforate; aperture a slit at the base of the last chamber.

Diameter, 0.62 mm.; height, 0.35 mm

Extra details from original publication
This species has some resemblance to Globorotalia menardii (d'Orbigny), from which it differs in its smaller size, more convex shape, and in having fewer chambers.
