Size: Etymology: Extra details from original publication
Editors' Notes Originally placed in the Hantkeninidae by Weinhandl (1958), and considered a planktonic genus by several authors (Weinhandl 1958; Mohan and Soodan 1969, 1970; El-Naggar 1971). For example, Mohan and Soodan (1969) described Schackoinella tricamerata as a planktonic foraminifera from the middle Eocene of India. However, Schackoinella appears to be benthic and has been placed within the Glabratellidae by numerous others (e.g. Loeblich and Tappan 1964b; Quilty 1975; Tandon et al. 1980; Ward 1987; Clark 1994; Stalder et al. 2015), and also in the Discorbidae (Loeblich and Tappan 1964a; Haman and Christensen 1971). Subsequently described species of Schackoinella, including S. wadeae Quilty 1975, S. agrawali Tandon, Saxena and Mathur 1980, S. singhi Tandon, Saxena and Mathur 1980, S. tewarii Tandon, Saxena and Mathur 1980, S. antarctica Ward 1987, S. favoculcita Clark 1994, and S. spina Stalder and Spezzaferri 2015 range from Eocene to recent and have all been documented as benthic foraminifera in the family Glabratellidae.
