Original Description
"Diagnosis.- Large umbilico-convex test with lobate angular periphery; 5Â_ to 6Â_ angular peripherally flattened chambers in the last whorl; coarsely ornamented surface; low arched aperture opening directly into the wide deep umbilicus; multiple dorsal openings at the intersection of the spiral suture with the intercameral sutures of the final two to four chambers of the last whorl. "Description.- Test large, umbilico-convex, coiled in a very low trochospire; dorsal side flat; ventral side protruding; equatorial periphery strongly lobate; axial periphery angular. Chambers arranged in about three rapidly enlarging whorls, the last whorl occupying the greater portion of the test; the initial whorl not very distinct because of the coarse onamentation and the minute size of the early chambers; the last whorl with 5Â_ to 6Â_ large, slowly enlarging chambers which are subquadrate to subrectangular in dorsal view, and protruding, slowly flattened peripherally and with angular umbilical end in ventral view; the end chamber often rudimentary and inflated in shape. Sutures straight to gently curved, moderately depressed. Wall calacareous, preforate; surface rough, the coarse onramentation more prominently developed on the earlier chambers, on the angular edges of the chambers and along the periphery of the test. Umbilicus well developed, deep. Averture low, gently arched, opening directly into the umbilicus, and provided with a narrow thin liplike border; apertures of earlier one or two chambers often wisible within the umbilicus. Additional small openings on the dorsal side of the test at the intersection of the spiral suture with the intercameral sutures of the final two to four chambers of the last whorl.
