Original Description In 1974 the writer published an article in which a new species of planktonic foraminifera, Globigerina occlusa, was described from Arctic Ocean basin Pleistocene and Pliocene sediments. Globigerina occlusa is a junior homonym of Globigerina praebulloides occlusa Blow and Banner, 1962 (p. 93, 94, PI. 9, Accordingly, the junior homonym Globigerina occlusa Herman, 1974 is herein replaced with the name Globigerina cryophila. The holotype described by the author is in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution U.S. National Museum and bears the number USNM 186537, Catalog No. 36. The writer would like to thank Dr. R.
