Test very low-trochoid, biconvex, with a slightly oval strongly lobate outline, with 1.5– 2 whorls; early whorl markedly deepened relative to the last one; in the last whorl 5 globular gradually increasing, loosely coiled chambers; sutures on spiral and umbilical sides straight, strongly depressed; surface of chambers on spiral and umbilical sides is evenly covered with thin unoriented spines, early chambers of the last whorl more spinose than the last ones; surface finely perforate, pores small in the form of cylindrical openings, moderately densely cover the surface of chambers on both spiral and umbilical sides; periphery broadly rounded without keels and oriented spines, evenly spinose, pores few or are missing; umbilical area wide, shallow, protected by tegillum; aperture slitlike, umbilical–extraumbilical.
Size: holotype no. 4898/5: large diameter, 0.22; minor diameter, 0.18; thickness, 0.12.
Etymology: The name is derived from Lat. sub – almost, plane – flat.

Comparison. The species differs from Archaeoglobigerina cretacea in the absence of two thin parallel spinose peripheral keels; from Archaeoglobigerina blowi, A. bosquensis, and A. australis, in an extremely low trochoid spiral and submerged early whorl; from Planohedbergella ehrenbergi, in a stronger trochoid test, clearly discernible spiral side, and aperture morphology. The new species is also morphologically similar to Liuenella falklandica (Georgescu) from Campanian of the Falkland plateau, Liuenella sp. from southern Cyprus (Plate II, figs. 3a–3d), and to Liuenella praefalklandica O. Korchagin from middle Turonian of the Crimea (Korchagin, 2011) differing in cylindrical and not crater-shaped pores as in Liuenella Georgescu, 2007.
Material. Several tests of medium preservation derived from one site.
Distribution and age. Upper Campanian, Moni Formation, southern Cyprus.
