Original Description Test rotaliform, dorsal side somewhat flattened, ventral side much convex, margin rounded, composed of about three coils; chambers gradually increasing in size as added, but last one much smaller than proceeding ones; wall inflated; aperture a long arched opening with a peripheral lip at base of inner face of last chamber. Size: Diameter 0.5-1.0 mm. Etymology: from Nippon - Japan Extra details from original publication This new form is similar to Globigerina inflata d'Orbigny in its appearance, but differs from it by the last, smaller chamber of which apertural periphery has a characteristic lip. This is fairly common in the adjacent seas of Japan.
