Globigerina pseudocretacea

Type locality: Sea cliffs at Ancon, 15.5 km. south and 108.3 km. west from the Plaza del Centenario monument in Guayaquil, Guayas Province, southwestern Ecuador. Found also at two other localities in Guayas Province; at two localities in Esmeraldas Province, northwestern Ecuador; and at one locality in Manab Province, west-central Ecuador.
Type age (chronostrat): Upper Middle Eocene
Type sample (& lithostrat): clay pebble beds, reefal facies. Occurs also in the Upper Eocene Jusa, Zapallo, Seca, and San Mateo formations, in the neritic and radiolarian facies.

Original Description
All chambers visible dorsally, the five of the last whorl visible ventrally. On the ventral side there is a true umbilicus flanked by crenulated lips over the apertures. Chambers increase gradually in length, with a ratio of 1.25:1 between succesive chambers. Aperture reaches toward the margin from the umbilical cavity, with a prominent crenulated lip. Wall very smooth, with very fine pores; pore-index 17-1, X 500 (an average of seventeen pores per square centimeter, with an average diameter of 1 mm., at a magnification of 500X)."

Size: Test of medium size, the diameters about 0.45 mm. and 0.36 mm., thickness 0.27 mm.
