Type locality: Holotype (fi gs. 6-7) from along a stream at Grabowiec, north of Lapczyca, in the vicinity of Bochnia, Krakow Province, southcentral Poland. Found also at Chodenice, west of Bochnia (Chodenice beds ), and at Che±m on the Raba River, near Bochnia (Choctenice beds) all in Krakow Province, south-central Poland.
Type age (chronostrat): Holotype (figs. 6-7 ) fr om the Middle Miocene, middle or upper Tortonian
Type sample (& lithostrat): Grabowiec beds; in gray clay with thin sandstone and calcareous conglomeratic sandstone interbeds. Occurs also in the underlying Chodenice beds (a deper-water facies of approximately the same age); in dark gray, thick- bedded clay with silt bands and interbedded tuffites
Type specimens: pl. 10, figs. 5- 7, X 62: 5, paratype; 6- 7, holotype. :

Original Description
"Test almost orbicular, composed of nine to twelve spherical chambers, closely adhering to each other, arranged in three or four whorls. The last whorl is composed of three chambers disposed in such a manner that the last-formed chamber, almost spherical, is not much smaller than the two preceding ones considered jointly, and occupies almost one-half of the test. The preceding whorls lie almost completely on the third (smallest) chamber of the last whorl, overlapping but slightly the two remaining chambers. The oldest portion of the test has very small chambers, visible only after immersing the test in clove oil. Great variability exists as to the size and arrangement of the chambers. Sutures depressed. Aperture on the bottom side of the test, in the form of a small slit at the convergence of the intercameral sutures of the last-formed whorl; moreover, similar apertures exist in the corners between the chambers , where the intercameral sutures converge with the interwhorl suture, on the spiral side, as well as small openings disposed irregularly al ong the intercameral sutures of the last-formed whorl. Diameter of holotype 0.34 mm. Diameters of paratypes 0.26 to 0.41 mm. Number of specimens more than twenty-five.

This species displays a resemblance to two species: Globigerinoides triloba (Reuss) [Globigerina triloba, 1850 ] and Globigerinoides trilocularis (d ' Orbigny ) [Globigerina trilocularis, 1832 ]. From Globigerinoides triloba it differs in its more spherical shape and in the different character of the apertures, which in the author's specimens are small, occasionally very poorly visible and coming to view only after slight digestion by means of 1 per cent HCl , while in Globigerinoides triloba they are large, distinct, and their number is smaller. From Globigerinoides triloculnris, a species which the author 's specimens resemble most , they differ in the consider ably larger number of chambers and in the different character of the apertures.
"During the determination of the above-mentioned srecies there were certain doubts whether they should not be included in the genus Candeina [d 'Orbigny, 1R39] on account of the conical arrangement of the chambers and the small apertures along the sutures. They were, however, included in the genus Globigerinoides Cushman [1927] because in the author's specimens the test surface is clearly of the Globigerina typ , and the secondary openings are disposed irregularly along the sutures and not, as in Candetna, in the form of a series of circular openings.
"There is also a certain similarity between the author's specimens and some representatives of the species Orbulina suturalis Bronnimann. Bronnimann published in 1951 (Cushman Found. Foram. Res., Contr. , val. 2, pt. 4 , p. 134) a new definitlon of the genus Orbulina d 'Orbigny, 1839, designating Orbulina universa d' Orbigny as the genotype , and including also in the diagnosis of the genus the two genera Candorbulina Jedlitschka and Candeina d 'Orbigny of Jedlitschka [1934 (part), Naturf. Ver . BrGnn, Ver h., val. 6s (1933), pp. 22 , 24]. With regard to orbicular specimens witn a partly or completely concealed Globigerina stage , the later diagnosis is still acceptable, although there is no apparent reason for joining the genera Orbulina and Candorbulina into one. However, for specimens with a very strongly developed Globigerina stage (e . g. Bronnimann, 1951 , op . cit., pl. 3, fig. 3 [Orbulina suturalis] ), or for the author's specimens which bear such a small resemblance to the genus Orbulina, the above- mentionect diagnosis is hardly acceptable.
