Globigerinoides ruber subsp. ruber
Classification: pf_cenozoic -> Globigerinidae -> Globigerinoides -> Globigerinoides ruber -> Globigerinoides ruber subsp. ruber
Sister taxa: G. ruber subsp. albus, G. ruber subsp. ruber
Citation: Globigerinoides ruber subsp. ruber d'Orbigny 1839Rank: sub-speciesTaxonomic discussion: The pink and white forms of G. ruber have long been informally separated, Morard et al. (2019) formalised this separation based on molecular genetic data suporting the inference that the two forms are discrete genotypes. They made the spaarartion at subspecific level since the distinction cannot be made in older sediments and to avoid unnecesary nomenclatural confusion.
