Type sample (& lithostrat): Sample No. 137, light gray silty shale and greensand, at 1503 '-1509' in Louisiana Oil and Refining Co. Tremont No. 2 well. Claiborne, Cane River formation (at least in part equivalent to the Weches formation of Texas and the Enterprise greensand of Mississippi)

Original Description

Test trochoid, closely coiled, nearly flat on dorsal side, strongly convex ventrally, deeply umbilicate; chambers numerous, distinct, strongly inflated especially in latter stage; sutures distinct, slightly depressed; wall calcareous, thin, coarsely perforate; aperture a large opening extending into umbilicus, partially covered by a lip. 

Size:
Dimensions of holotype: long diameter 0.38 mm.; thickness 0.26 mm.

Extra details from original publication
This species occurs with such great abundance in the lower part of the Cane River formation that it is used in economic work to mark the approach of the Cane River-Wilcox contact. It greatly resembles some species of Globigerina but has been referred to Globorotalia on the basis of its close coiling and the character of its aperture.
