Type locality: A section at Gabal Urn Elghanayem, a hill in the Kharga Oasis, at approximately lat. 25° 35' N., long. 30° 44' E., in the Western Desert of Egypt
Type age (chronostrat): Holotype from the Danian, Globorotalia zone, Echinocorys chalk, occurs also in the lower layers of the upper Esna shale.

Original Description
Test quadrate, trochoid, composed of about two whorls, the dorsal side flattened or slightly convex, the ventral side distinctly convex. Peripheral edges subacut e and very finely spinose. Chambers few in number, four in the last whorl, petaloid on the dorsal side, the last one usually smaller than the penultimate. Umbilicus deep and open. Sutures on ventral side nearly straight and strongly depressed. Sutures on the dorsal side curved, indistinct, and flush with the surface. Wall distinctly perforate and very finely spinose. Aperture a narrow slit extending from the umbilicus to near the periphery.

Size: Length of holotype 0.29 mm.; breadth 0.29 mm.; thickness 0.17 mm.

Remarks.  The characters of this species make it unique among the globorotaliids. Its quadrate form appears to link it with quadrata White, which floods the same samples in which the present species occurs, but which appears earlier in the section and could thus have been its ancestor
