Original Description

Translated from Russian: Test small, low trochospiral, subquadratic in contour, convexo-concave in edge view. Spiral side is low convex. Umbilical side is slightly concave. Two whorls with 4 chambers in each one. Chambers very compact in an inner whorl, and become less tightly packed in the last whorl. Periphery rounded and widely-scalloped. Sutures slightly curved, just a little depressed. Aperture umbilical, arched, with thin lip. Umbilicus wide. Test calcareous, porous; pores oval, 0.4 - 1.5 microns in size, 25-35 pores in 100 square microns area. Surface covered with pustules and cells. Cells separated by pustules and ridges, and irregular in shape.

Size:
Holotype measures: D1 0.18 mm, D2 0.16 mm, H 0.07 mm, compression index D1 : H 2.57. Varies in compression index, although significantly convex specimens are rare.

Editors' Notes
Gradstein (2017) changed the rank of calloviensis from species to subspecies. i.e from Globuligerina calloviensis to Globuligerina oxfordiana subsp. calloviensis. In that publication the citation is erroneously given as Globuligerina oxfordiana (Grigelis) subspecies calloviensis ssp. nov. Gradstein, the correct citation is as given here (see also Gradstein et al. 2017).
